HOW SHAHRUKH KHAN WAS MADE TO LOOK DWARF IN ZERO
Zero Movie |
Zero was shot with a technique called Forced perspective
which was used in the Holly wood movie The Hobbit and The Lord of Rings. The
reason was to make SRK look dwarf as
they didn’t want to super impose the face of SRK on a dwarf. Now what is this
force perspective technique. In layman words it is a technique which makes an
object far, nearer , larger or smaller than actually it is. It creates an
optical illusion in other words.
Now How SRK was shot dwarf by this technique ?
Two types of sets were created to show him dwarf.
One set having a camera to show SRK dwarf and the second set
with another camera to show others bigger. Then both the shots from these two
cameras were synced with another special camera in which both the shots were
overlapped. Due to this, due to the distance of the object (in this case SRK)
from the camera lens, SRK appears dwarf. Sounds simple? right. But no there is
a lot of hard work needed to be done to get the correct effect and looks real.
Another technique called CG tracking was also employed . In
this technique SRK was often shrunk with the help of tracking the body muscles
using CG trackers which are pasted on the actors body during shooting scenes.
The CG team then make a matte image and create a 3D iamge from the previously
filmed scenes. In this case is the example of Salman holding Dwarf SRK in his
arms. See below:
This film was offered to Salman Khan at first. He had agreed to do it but suddenly backed out of the film without giving any reasons. As per the Director Anand Rai, Salman had his own reasons but the fact is that Salman was unhappy that his character of being dwarf was revealed to press. He wanted it to be a secret. The Director then approached Shahrukh Khan and he agreed to do it. Even after rejecting Salman Khan wanted to be a part of the film and hence he did the cameo. So gracious of him.
